Where in the World is TR Pynchon? Reading Group Aug 25th Meeting

 Hello Pynchon Fans

We had a good read last Monday and made it to page 154 almost through episode 18.

We spent a number of pages reading about who is speaking to whom from the beyond.

This will be important when we get to the major seance

We've made it to page 140, the beginning of episode 17 

We just read a long long meditation on the juxtaposition of the war with traditional Christmas traditions

We read probably some of the longest paragraphs in English

 Well Pynchon Fans

We left off after spending time with Roger Mexico and Jessica finding more about them and their relationship.  This Monday we will finish up chapter 16 and probably 17 also.  More Pavlovian stuff

Monday the 11th we will meet at the  Commerce Street Brewery  at 5pm cst picking up the events at the bottom of page 128.

Where in the World is TR Pynchon? Reading Group Aug 4th Meeting

Hello Pynchon Fans

Well we made it through Episode 14 One of Pynchon's circular stories.  We started out with Katje in current time London and then a flash back to her time in Holland with a German rocket firing installation and then a flash back further to one of her Dutch ancestors that was obsessed with the Dodo bird and then we end up back with Katje in current time London. Pynchon here is also introducing us to one of his favorite themes.  The difference between the Elect and the Preterite.
